Education: Preparing the next generation for success
Joe attended Washington public schools throughout his life and later worked as a preschool teacher and as staff at Western Washington University. These experiences have given him a firsthand understanding of our education system as a student, educator, parent, and college administrator.
Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or the path they choose after graduation. In the legislature, Joe has voted to increase funding for special education, and believes we must continue investing in public education, including early learning and career-connected learning opportunities that prepare students for the workforce. Additionally, he believes we need to expand access to STEM education and create strong pathways into the skilled trades, apprenticeships, community colleges, and four-year degree programs.
A quality education should open doors, not create financial barriers. Joe is committed to making higher education more affordable and ensuring that students and families have access to the resources they need to pursue their goals. By investing in students today, Washington can build a stronger workforce and a stronger future for generations to come.
