GETTING REAL RESULTS
PUTTING WHATCOM COUNTY FIRST.
Joe Timmons believes public service is about showing up for your community, solving problems, and delivering results. In Olympia, he has worked to bring people together, advocate for Whatcom County, and turn local priorities into action.

$300+ MILLION FOR LOCAL PROJECTS AND PRIORITIES
Joe has helped secure state funding for projects that strengthen infrastructure, improve public safety, expand access to care, and support communities across Whatcom County.
Among some of Joe's recent budget accomplishments:
-
$13 million for Nooksack floodplain projects to improve flood protection and community safety throughout the watershed.
-
$3 million advanced to begin work on the Slater Road elevation project, helping improve a critical transportation corridor in Whatcom County.
-
$51 million for Whatcom Community College's Technology & Engineering Center, supporting workforce training and economic opportunity.
-
$1 million for a permanent homeless day shelter in Bellingham, supporting stability and services for people experiencing homelessness.
-
$5.1 million for a new skills center at Meridian High School, including an early learning component and up to 70 new childcare slots in Whatcom County.
-
$8 million for Thorton Village in Ferndale, a Kulshan Community Land Trust project creating more opportunities for affordable homeownership.
-
$1 million to replace the Whatcom County Fire District 1 station in Everson, assisting local first responders in serving the areas of Everson, Nooksack, Deming and the Nooksack Indian Tribe.
Together, these projects reflect Joe's commitment to ensuring Whatcom County receives its fair share of state resources and the investments needed to support future growth and opportunity.

TURNING PRIORITIES INTO ACTION
Turning ideas into results takes more than talk. It takes persistence, collaboration, and a willingness to bring people together to solve problems. In Olympia, meaningful progress often happens by building support across communities and focusing on practical solutions that improve people's lives.
From expanding access to higher education and protecting workers' rights to strengthening support for families and local communities, the focus has remained on delivering results that create opportunity and address the challenges Washingtonians face every day.
Among Joe's recent legislative session accomplishments:
-
Passed HB 1570, allowing student employees to collectively bargain for better wages, benefits, and working conditions.
-
Sponsored legislation to protect consumers from medical debt, including SB 5480, helping remove barriers created by medical debt and strengthening consumer protections.
-
Expanded access to higher education, sponsoring legislation that increased support for students experiencing homelessness, foster youth, and students pursuing college and career training through the Passport to Careers program and Washington College Grant.
-
Sponsored HB 2532, establishing new safeguards around the sale and distribution of nitrous oxide to protect public health and safety.
While these accomplishments have made a difference, there is still more work to do. Rising costs, housing affordability, access to health care, and public safety remain real challenges for families across Whatcom County. That's why the focus remains on building on this progress and continuing to deliver results for the communities that call Whatcom County home.
